Thank you for attending our Annual Joint Meeting!

On the 19th of September we held our Annual Joint Meeting, shared between Healthwatch Newcastle and Healthwatch Gateshead. It was an opportunity sharing our recent achievements, our current activities and our plans for the future, as well as receive feedback and input from partner organisations and the general public.

We are hugely thankful to everyone who attended and provided their perspectives – both in-person and online! It also gave us a chance to show off our new annual report

The Healthwatch Newcastle committee welcomed four new members: Ann Wynn, Alex Hoole, Nicholas Linfoot and Amer Mirza. They join Terry Bearpark, Feyi Awotona, Alisdair Cameron and Gill Clancy. In addition, Terry Bearpark has now stepped down as interim chair, to be replaced by Michael Brown.

After the main proceedings, we heard from Jon Quine of the North East & North Cumbria (NENC) Health & Care Partnership, pictured below:

Jon spoke about Inclusion Health Groups, an umbrella term for many different groups who face multiple risk factors for poor health and are more likely to suffer inequalities in their experiences of health and social care. He went on to outline the NENC Health & Care Partnership's approach to addressing these inequalities, from universal access to specialist service provision.

And lastly, we opened up the floor to discussion of our priorities for the coming year, which were:

  • Adult Social Care
  • Ambulance, NHS 111 and emergency services
  • Dementia Care Services
  • Physiotherapy

Once again, we are grateful to all the people who engaged with our work and participated in lively discussion. Your input and feedback informs our approach in the future, so thank you from Healthwatch Newcastle!
